The definition of a “deep” scratch varies. A glazier may consider any visible scratch too deep to repair, while online sources often claim that anything catching a fingernail is beyond fixing. In reality, that’s not the case.

A truly deep scratch usually has a ragged edge with tiny chips broken out of the glass—often over 100 microns deep. Experienced glass polishers can routinely remove these, unless they’re too close to the edge.

Polishing glass is mostly a wet process, so it does not create dust. However, the initial stages use a dry abrasive, which can produce dust. We take extra care to protect surrounding surfaces, often spending more time on dust control than polishing. Clients frequently praise how clean their premises are left.

Yes – scratches can often be removed from tinted glass, but it depends on the type of tint:

• Factory-tinted glass (where the tint is within the glass itself):
  ✅ Yes, we can safely restore this. The polishing process won’t affect the colour.

• Aftermarket film-tinted glass (where tint is applied as a surface film):
  ⚠️ No, we can’t polish this. The film would be damaged. However, we can remove the film, polish the glass underneath, and re-tint through our partner if required.

Yes. It is possible to repair scratches on tempered glass efficiently due to the glass density. Our scratch removal system is effective on laminated, curved, plate, and mirrored glass as well. We can handle any thickness of glass, including single glazing strength.

No – The scratch has already caused a strain in the silica lattice and weakened the glass. If scratched glass is subjected to impacts or stresses, it will often crack in the area where the scratch is located. Therefore, when the scratches are polished out, this weakness is removed, and the break resistance is restored to about 90-95% of its original value.

While some may claim that deep glass scratches cannot be repaired, the truth is they can. However, it requires a skilled operator because repairing deep scratches (over 100 microns) involves removing a lot of glass. This increases the risk of uneven abrasion and distortion. Therefore, deep scratch repairs should be handled by experts to avoid distorting the glass.

We can repair most types of flat architectural glass, but not all. Here’s a breakdown:

• ✅ Repairable:

  • Toughened (tempered) glass

  • Laminated safety glass

  • Float glass (standard clear glass)

  • Tinted or factory-coloured glass

  • Coated glass (in some cases – depends on the coating type and location of damage)

• 🚫 Not repairable:

  • Textured or frosted glass (scratches can’t be polished out without altering the texture)

  • Glass with internal defects or delamination

  • Curved or bent glass (case-by-case basis, but usually not feasible)
