GRAFFITI SCRATCHES
Unfortunately, now and again private and commercial premises are hit by vandals who deface their property with graffiti. Removing graffiti from glass is difficult without the proper tools and know how.
TYPES OF GRAFFITI SCRATCHES
There are different types of glass graffiti which involve specific graffiti removal processes. Acid etched graffiti occurs when vandals use hydrofluoric acid mixed with either shoe polish or acetone on the glass. This method makes a wide band of graffiti, sometimes coloured, that etches into the glass, forming a hard crust on the surface.
Melbourne Glass Polishing can chemically neutralise and eliminate the upper crust to remove the etching from the glass. After this fist step we then polish it down to a smooth, clear surface. Etched graffiti is purposely caused by vandals using stones, screwdrivers, knifes, spark plugs or diamond glass cutters on the surface of the glass. This deliberate damage falls under the deepest scratch category and as such, needs to be repaired immediately. If it is left as is, then the glass can be compromised further by the existing damage or by other vandals who now see it as an acceptable target.
